VicJobs.ca is a locally operated job board serving the Greater Victoria, British Columbia area. 2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Job seekers: Email address (if you subscribe to job alerts). We do not require account creation to browse jobs.
  • Employers: Company name, job title, location, description, contact email and application URL when submitting a job posting.
  • All visitors: Basic analytics data including pages visited, browser type and approximate location via Google Analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To send you job alert emails if you have subscribed
  • To publish and display employer job listings on our site
  • To contact employers about their submitted job postings
  • To improve our website and understand how visitors use it
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Job Listings

Job listings on VicJobs.ca come from two sources: direct employer submissions and publicly available sources such as the Government of Canada Job Bank open data. Job Bank listings are published under the Open Government Licence — Canada. We clearly label the source of each listing.

5. Email Communications

If you subscribe to job alerts, we will email you when new Victoria jobs are posted matching your preferences. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email with "unsubscribe" in the subject line. We do not sell or share your email address with third parties.

6. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore), which operates data centres in the United States. By using VicJobs.ca, you consent to your data being stored and processed in the United States under Google's privacy framework.

7. Third Party Services

We use the following third party services:

  • Google Firebase — database and authentication
  • Vercel — website hosting
  • Resend — email delivery
  • Google Analytics — anonymous website analytics

8. Cookies

VicJobs.ca uses minimal cookies for basic site functionality and Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting your ability to browse job listings.

9. Your Rights

Under Canadian privacy law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Withdraw consent for email communications at any time
